DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING SCHOOL (DTS)
The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is focused on building Christian character and equipping each student for their calling in God. The school prepares students for mission service in the community, as well as overseas.
There is a strong emphasis on cross cultural evangelism and global awareness, preparing the students to reach current and future generations with the Gospel and answer the call to "go into the world and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19).
The course consists of a three-month classroom phase and a two-month field assignment. The training takes place on campus in a "live/learn" environment.
Live and videotaped teaching by lecturers from around the world and individual
counseling help each one to become an effective Christian witness. Our
lecturers are chosen from a field of anointed and experienced leaders, who have
expertise in their specific topics.
Topics include:
This cross-cultural outreach follows directly after the lecture phase and lasts a minimum of eight weeks.
The outreach not only allows the students to become familiar with evangelism but it also gives first hand experience in living and working in a different cultural setting. Past evangelistic outreach destinations from our schools included: Albania, Venezuela, Brazil, Grenada, Guyana, Dominica, Trinidad, Haiti, Suriname, Martinique and West Africa.
Our teams work alongside experienced pastors and missionaries to ensure that those won to Christ can continue to be discipled within a local church.
We seek to connect our short-term outreaches with the target nations of Youth With A Mission Jamaica so that each student can consider the possibility of long-term missions work.
The DTS is the first course in an Associate of Arts Degree that includes the School of Frontier Missions, the School of the Bible, School of Performing Arts, and Foundation of Community Development. These courses are accredited with the U of N (University of the Nations).
This training arm of YWAM is an international missions university aimed at equipping people to fulfill their calling in world evangelization. The DTS is an entry-level requirement for all other U of N courses as well as being an open door for serving on staff in Youth With A Mission (YWAM).
