What is The School Of The Performing Arts?

Have you ever wondered about the possibility of expressing God's purpose and destiny through the arts? This is a 5 month intensive course which provides a challenging and breathtaking environment in which the student can not only study, but live out the spiritual, realistic and professional aspects of the performing arts. SOPA starts with 3 months of training, and 2 months of field assignment applying and performing what you have learned. SOPA will be held annually in one of the Caribbean Islands.

   

The course focuses on the following:

Foundations of Arts

Focusing on heart purity, the student will gain a Christian perspective of the Arts. This will include understanding biblical authority, evaluating presuppositions, and reclaiming Caribbean art forms.


Theater Arts

Emphasizing the history of theater, acting, event management, production, improvisation, script writing, and mime skills.


Dance

Technical exercises to develop posture, body alignment, strength, balance, concentration and flexibility. Emphasizing worship in dance, dance history, Caribbean dance forms, ballet, tap, modern, dramatic dance, and choreography.


Music

Focuses on spiritual and practical preparation for those who desire involvement in music ministry as well as music recording. Foundations for music ministry include theory, vocal training, songwriting, worship leading, music history, and training in Caribbean instruments.
